Uffa — a digital dig site

the work of Matt Uffalussy

Using AI to exhume 20-odd-year-old files from a shoebox of dusty backup discs and drag them, squinting, into a modern browser. Flash that hasn't drawn breath since Clippy walked the earth; Microsoft ASP sites whose servers long ago ascended to the great data center in the sky. Most of it's mine; some are collaborations; a few things are other people's (the statute of limitations has surely run).

Basically digital taxidermy — except some of these specimens still move.

Best on an actual computer: none of this is remotely mobile-friendly. Phones existed back then — they just weren't smart; you used them to text and occasionally call an actual human, not to have your entire psyche consumed and reprogrammed on a daily basis.

Not everything made it. This is a dig, not a complete archive. Plenty didn't survive — dead servers, dead formats, backups that were never made. Some projects live on here only as a logo, a mockup, or a mention; others are gone entirely. What's here is simply what could be exhumed.
